I have a friend that wants an Angel Food cake decorated with bright colored flowers. I am wondering if buttercream would be too heavy to put on the Angel Food. I am sure that fondant would. What would be my best bet for frosting. She is picking it up next Saturday and serving Sunday, so I think it would have to pretty much be covered with frosting or it would get hard. My mom used to make me an Angel Food cake for my Birthday every year, but she just used a glaze. Thank you for any advice you are able to give.
Angel food cake is wonderful with a whipped cream icing. And you can make it stiff enough to pipe flowers with it.
