I don't know which forum to post this in but I want to soak a cake that won't fall apart after it is soaked.

Should I use a geniose style cake?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A sponge would probably hold together. Why not make a trial run? You can make 1/2 recipes and soak them. You can put liquid on most of the firmer cakes, but not really "soak" them. What are you trying to accomplish? If a cake is really wet it won't hold icing of any kind. Just curious.

I have never made one but how about looking up a receipe for a Tres Leches cake. The receipes for them call for several "milks" poured on top of the cooled cake. hth
