hi, im new here, when making a cake with fondant, is it better to use frosting on the cake or gell, before the fondant goes on never made one but i like to try soon, and is it really that hard to work with it

I put frosting underneath the fondant. It's not that hard to work with, just takes a little practice.

I use a full layer of frosting, and chill the cake so that the icing is hard before applying fondant. It is not a requirement by any means, but will make your life SO much easier, especially if you are new at this.
