I was going thru my cookie cutters and I saw a plate for my cookie press that is tube shaped. I was wondering if anyone else has used this to make ropes out of fondant.

Yes! It just so happens I did this last week for the first time after wondering about this myself. It worked great! Of course you are limited to that one size rope, but it's nice to know it works for when you need that size. Give it a try
