Hi everyone,
I have been asked to make this cake for a friend for her engagement cake, different colours etc.
She is having 65 people at the engagement party.. What size cakes do you recommend? This will be my first real try at a Topsy Turvy cake so any advice would be much appreciated!
TIA Rach [img][/img]
Hi- I believe that the person who did this cake has a tutorial on how she does her topsy turvy on Flickr that may help. Yep, found it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/deliciously_decadent/sets/72157616259103302/comments/
She does really nice cakes!
Good Luck
For serving sizes I use the middle layer in the tier. So say your top tier is a 6",7",8". The 7" serves 15 so that's what the top tier would serve.
The next tier would be 8",9",10" and the 9" serves 26 so your middle tier would serve 26 and so on.
just another question.... I just gave the quote to the bride to be and she was shocked at the price and said that she did not think that it would be that expensive...
Its going to be choc mud cake 5,6,7 and 7,8,9 and 9,10,11. I charged her $220 Australian.. I know everyone charges differently according to skill etc.. but do you think that is reasonable?? I not making much money off it at all.. i'm amazed that she thinks that its expensive!
Please let me know what you think ??
She's getting a bargain!!! Madhatters.... good ones... go from about AU$600 upwards - 3 tier MUCH MORE - even dodgy ones I've seen for $450
$220 ???? if she baulks at this price - she has NOT done her homework (or has!) and you are being well and truly USED!
She'll be back!! and begging you to make it for that
Here's a great article on it from cc

Thanks malakainrop, i hate it when customers question your prices! I am only new to making cakes so am only doing it for family and friends and WOM, thats why im not charging much.. I wished people realised the time and money that goes into the cakes..
Thanks for the link tab_stout. I have actually seen this one before and was looking for it to reference off..
