I have the baby shoe cutters, which is the best to make them from fondant or gumpaste? I made a pink pair last night and today for some odd reason it looks like the color is fading already. What could possibly be wrong? It wasnt exposed to any sunlight or anything. TIA

Was it exposed to lighting in your home? If I leave it out on the table under my kitchen light mine will fade. I put it in a box with a lid so it doesn't get any light.

Rule of thumb: Fondant fades as it dries and as time goes by, buttercream gets darker. It may have been just the fondant drying (you would have seen some fading but not too much.) The same thing happened to my blue purse cake (Bella's purse cake in my pix.) The handle and the dark parts were much darker but as they dried they lightened considerably.

I find that fondant fades, but if you use gumpaste, the color holds. Also, less chance of it drooping on you when you least expect it. You might also use a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste.
