I am wondering if it's okay to use Wilton sparkle gel to draw a scroll design on the side of a cake... gold sparkle gel on white butter cream. Is it too runny? Will the gel melt the butter cream? I would love to hear from anyone who has experience with this.

The sparkle gel will work fine to pipe a scroll design on the side of a cake. It will not melt the buttercream. As for it being runny - if you put it on too thickly it could drip but for normal scroll work with piping tip equivalent to about a tip 2 or 3 it should be fine.
