Will fondant stripes on a buttercream iced cake look stupid? I have a lady who wants stripes on her cake, but she doesn't like fondant. I am not sure that I can do butterceam stripes and them all look uniform. Any suggestions?
This is why I thought I may have to use fondant stripes on a buttercream iced cake.
If she doesn't want fondant then she can't have fondant stripes! Don't you hate requests like this?
You could try a stripe "stencil" and still use bc, or what about a frozen bc transfer?
That's what almost all of my cakes are: iced in buttercream with fondant polka dots, stripes, stars, etc.
75% of my cakes that leave are buttercream with fondant accents. Nothing stupid about it and it caters to those who dislike fondant.
If you use a crusting buttercream like I do you'll need to add a small amount of piping gel or water to get it to stick. Don't paint the whole thing or it will start to slide. I don't think you will needit if you use non-crusting bc but I'm not really sure about that since that's not what I use. You can do a ton of things so experiment and have fun!
I should read my comments carefully after taking pain medication. My last post apparently combined two thoughts into one sentence.
I meant I didn't want it to look stupid, I want it to look great.
I will be trying to practice this week hopefully.
Won't look stupid at all!
