Has anyone had any practice with this? It is shown on TV a lot, makes the finished cake look shiny and wet. Got a request coming up and wanted to know some tips. I do plan to practice some first of course - but any ideas or hints are always helpful.
We tried this a couple of times (before we were blogging about these things ... ) - the results were impressive in the short run. The top layer of the fondant basically gets a slick, wet look ... great! Our problem was that it didn't last very long. Overnight it turns dull and sorta strange looking. So I guess if one was to do that, it would have to be steamed and delivered right away.
