MMF without a heavy duty mixer? I wanted to give it a try but I'm currently mixer-less.

Yes. I don't use a mixer to make the fondant.

I grease a large bowl and throw in my marshmallows and water. After they have melted I add the powdered sugar and start working in the crisco. Works great and my arms get a workout since I can't seem to motivate myself to get to the gym!

I have never used a mixer. Like jenny said your arms get a good workout and your hands get really soft from the crisco!
