Hi everyone,

I was thinking of starting a cookie business - selling cookies online on Artfire.com, testing the market, and then selling on Etsy later (because Etsy charges fees for each listing).

I really want to do something in the cake/cookie business, selling cakes and cookies. I think cookies are a better option since they are sturdier than cakes.

Does anyone have any pointers and advice for how to start selling cookies online? Wholesale supplies? How to start off? etc. My state allows home bakers to sell food out of their home kitchen but I am not sure if I need insurance, lawyers etc.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your help!

It takes more to start a business than just deciding how to market your product. First you need to set up your business and find out about licensing in your state and all those requirements before you can even think about selling so as to protect yourself. Insurance is one part of it but the list goes on and on. Good luck but take a step back before you think about selling and get set up in a legit business first.
