My mother in law is throwing a pizza party in a few weeks for a cousin of my husband's who no one has seen in 10 years or so (why, I have no idea). Anyway, she wants me to make a cake. Since its not really to celebrate anything in particular I am having a little trouble thinking of a cake that doesn't look birthday-ish. I was thinking of making a daisy bouquet cake kind of like this one (only with daisies):

I want to make it hour glass shaped (tapered in the middle) so I was thinking three layers (8,7,icon_cool.gif in order to get that shape. I don't want a big hump of flowers and I don't need to feed that many people so I don't want to add a dome shaped cake on top. Can I just pile some bc up there and attach the flowers? How many medium and large daisies do you think it would take to cover an 8 inch cake? I have no clue.

Any other different ideas for a cake that I could do for this non-occasion? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions, or just taking the time to read!
