Made up gum paste on Friday,just took it out of the fridge it is so hard I just hacked it up on the bread board.The first lot I made 2 weeks ago was fine,but this lot carn't believe the differance.Now before I chuck it can I soften it a tad in the Microwave oven?oh it's Nicholas Lodges recipe.

Yes, I just soften mines in the microwave in 8 second intervals.

Yes you can soften it. I haven't made Nick Lodeges but I have had some hard fondant once it got warm and I kneaded it it was fine. You might want to add a touch of shortening while you are kneading.

Thanks friends,didn't feel like making another lot up,have been having trouble with gumpastes lately,trying new recipes.oh Ryalan you are around,I don't know if you saw my other question,but what did you put inbetween your tiers,and what is covering them?

Lauthala, I just replied to it.

Also, make sure you let Nic lodge's recipe come to room temperature before using. You might find it softer from that point on.

Why did you put it in the refridgerator? It stores in an airtight container in a cool location away from light, heat and dust.
