I'm just curious what schedule most of you use when covering a cake in fondant. How far in advance to you bake, and/ or freeze, fill, frost, cover, etc. I'm trying to spread the work out and I'm wondering what works for others. Thanks!

I don't freeze my cakes so I bake thursday, let settle in the fridge overnight. Friday tort, fill, frost and cover in fondant for a saturday cake. I don't use fillings that need to go in the fridge so I can just leave the cake in a cool place until Sautday or even Sunday.

Hope this helps

We tend to bake on Wednesdays, crown & torte and fill Thursdays, cover with fondant Friday, and finish decorating/add decorations on Saturday.

I bake, torte, freeze on Thursdays, fondant Friday and put any last minute trimmings on Saturday. This week I had a small wedding cake for Saturday evening so I baked, torted, froze on Friday and finished with the fondant/roses/piping on Saturday morning for the evening wedding. Of course the sugar roses were made weeks in advance.
