I found this cake on this site, posted back in 2006. Anyone know how to get 2 different colors on the sides like this? It says all bc, but how do you smooth bc when there are 2 colors without smearing them together??

If you're using American "decorators" crusting buttercream - I just did a similar one. I used a cake icer tip and a basketweave tip to apply (in your case) the brown to the cake and then smoothed it out. Just used my icing spatula to even up the line a bit. Then I popped the whole thing in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up. Then I used the same tips to apply the icing to the top and sides and just carefully smoothed it out. I didn't have too much trouble really. The decorations (should) hide the imperfect line between the two.

Good luck!
