Hi all,

Just wondering if any Aussies have used the melvira method for smoothing buttercream. I need to do a cake in the next few weeks and don't want to use fondant (just for a friend) so I'd like to try this method. I haven't used copha or found other shortening to use the crusting buttercream, so it would just be with regular buttercream frosting. Also, if you've used this where have you found the high density foam rollers, just somewhere like Bunnings? Thanks icon_smile.gif

Cose i have one that just used plain butter that crusts nicely, if you want it

Oh if you have a recipe for crusting buttercream that doesn't use shortening that would be great. I'll give that a go. Thanks icon_smile.gif
