My customer wants a black forest cake, no problem. However, she also wants it covered in fondant, with a "fishing" theme. I'm having trouble putting these two ideas together in my head. I've never made a black forest cake that didn't have the whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top.
Any ideas?

My black forest cake always has dark chocolate ganache poured over it. You could decorate on top of the ganache pretty easily if you wanted to do a lake, etc...

That might be a good idea...I'm worried it's going to end up just a chocolate cake with cherry filling.

The filling could be a thin layer of bc, cherries and chocoalte shavings. Kirsch for the wash, of course.
