Hey I was planning on making my daughter's birthday cake this year and I was just wondering what kind of icing would go well with fondant cause I was going to decorate the cake with fondant. Her birthday isn't until August, but i was going to make a few small cakes to practice with until then so I was just wondering if any of you have any suggestions. Anything would be appreciated! thank you!

Above super thread has popular CC recipes for crusting American buttercreams, several types of fondant and doctored cake mix (WASC and other flavor variations) - and so much more!
Fondant can be used with quite a few types of frosting: meringue buttercreams, American buttercreams and even ganache.

I started making cakes for my daughter's birthday too. I tried MMF first because the recipe is easy and the ingredients are inexpensive. I've had lots of fun practicing. I wish you well.
Thank you all so much for helping! I'll definitly have to have some help watching her cause we're pottytraining now. Plus I got plenty of time to practice so thank you!!!
