Don't know what happened to that link.

Elise - I asked if it was possible to use your own marshmallows a while ago...someone replied yes, they're too tasty to make into frosting or fondant (from memory),
I do make my own marshmallows and they are so much nicer than store-bought. I have a friend who does specialty chocolates etc, and I make her orange flavoured (and coloured) marshmallows by the kilo! Its a relatively easy process.
cool! thanks evoir
Yeh I have made my own marshmallows before so know how to make them....i use to eat them rolled in coconut...yummy yummy!
Those homemade marshmallows sound so good but as I suspected, you need corn syrup for them. And that's one thing I haven't found a substitute for in Germany. Grrr.....
Yeah, I think so. But isn't glucose much more liquid than corn syrup? I've been looking for something with higher viscosity.
I, too use liquid glucose...health food stores might carry it in Germany - or even chocolate/candy supply stores.
Is it? I'll have to look again. It can't have been glycerin that I saw on the shelf since you can only get that at the pharmacy here. I can picture the bottle in my head but maybe I'm thinking of the wrong one. I'll probably be going shopping later on today so I'll have to look. It'd be great if glucose would work!
Thanks!
Jenny
what about this recipe....u think it's any good? it's hasn't got glucose or corn syrup

That'd probably work well - you're just making your own syrup first. What I'm picturing right now is how good they might taste with a bit of raspberry flavoring. Has anybody ever tried that? Or a bit of pineapple flavoring and then rolled in coconut? Pina colada marshmallows???
