Is there a rule to advise brides when they are serving cupcakes at the wedding. I thought I read somewhere it was suggested to order a % more than the rsvp response???? Any advice on this?

I think the general rule of thumb is 1.5 times the guest count as you'll always have people wanting more than one, especially if multiple flavours are on offer!

and it's easier to grab a 2nd cupcake "for the ride home" than it is to shove a plate of sliced cake into your purse.

And kids tend to waste cake ... and parents somehow get it in their head that it's ok to throw out 1/2 a cupcake and get another one (because it's just a cupcake!) yet they would reprimand their kid for wasting a slice of cake and tell them "No, you're NOT getting a 2nd piece. YOu didn't eat your first one!"

And if you are doing minis, then 4 or 5 per person. For all of the same reasons as Debi said.
