I'm just responding to the "tone" of messages we receive over the web:
(I'm not talking about times where it's obvious to EVERYONE that someone is being rude...like namecalling):
Often times whatever mood you wake up in, or are in, is the way you are going to perceive the message received in written form. If you are in a really sour mood, even something as simple as "have a nice day", can be received as sarcastic.
I know this from experience... I once sincerely emailed an old friend who was having a hard time... I ended an email telling her that I wished her all the best and I hoped she would find what she's looking for in life. Well, I immediately got back a snide reply: "take your snotty, selfish comments and shove them!!" (among many explitives...)
Needless to say, we never spoke again.
My point is that sometimes a comment is just a comment...(sometimes it's more...) but if we go trying to find fault in something, we'll find it.
