I am just starting to sell cakes and cupcakes as a side income--but I need help knowing how to price them. I want to see some return, but don't want to price myself out of range of getting any sales. Currently, I am not taking orders for wedding cakes; so I just need some guidance on pricing for "regular" cakes and cupcakes. THANK YOU!!!

The rule of thumb is to price per serving. So figure out how much it costs you to make a cake and go from there. There are hundreds of threads in the forums about this topic so do a search and see what you come up with. Good luck!

I finally started charging a minimum on other cakes and went up from there depending on what they wanted. Wedding cakes i charge per serving and buttercream/fondant, fillings, and handmade additions. Search around your local bakeries and see what they charge for non wedding cakes.
