How do you prepare you fake cakes if you are going to use buttercream? I tried to cover it with saran wrap but its hard to get it to stay put while icing it. Then the icing is all messed up.

Do you leave it bare to cover it? How do you do it? Any tricks or tips?

I just apply the BC directly to the styro. When I apply my BC, it turns hard as concrete. Kids love it when I tell them, "Sure! You can touch it!"

Yet when I want to remove it, I just get my spatula under the BC and it pops right off in sheets. Run a wet cloth over it and it's ready to go again. Takes a whopping 5 minutes and that's if I have a problem getting it off.

Never saw a need to put any kind of saran or other material on it first.
