I've been thinking for a while now, what to do for this requested birthday cake:
My father in a law and another friend of the family (female) are turning 50, and invited the whole family for a fifty-fifty birthday party. They asked me to bring one of my special cakes...
But I really am stuck with my ideas.

I thought about doing 2 different sort of cakes and making it half dark cake, half vanilla or whatsoever cake.
But the difficulty starts with the decoration.
Trying to stir my ideas- fifty fifty - use patterns that are cut in half?
They both like sailing.. but how connect that with fifty fifty??
Does anyone of you creative heads have an idea for me? ?

Thank you so much.

One side of the sailboat blue, the other pink, she is on the pink side, he is steering on the blue or vice versa, that is if you want to model a sailboat with some figures. How many people will the cake need to feed? Are you talking sheetcake, tiered or carved?

Where in Germany are you?

thank you for your idea.
I indeed ended up with making a sailboat.
I made a round cake (32 cm) and carved the boatbody out of a second cake.
The bottom part will be the blue water, the top simply the sail boat, representing their hobby... sailing into the new half of their life....
I'll post a picture later.

Thanks again
therese (btw.. I live in the Berlin-area)
