Sand And Sea Effects?

I want to make a seaside themed cake for mothersday. does anyone have any good methods to create sea and sand effects? TIA icon_biggrin.gif

I've used light brown sugar for sand before and thinned buttercream colored blue with piping gel to make is shiny for water.

You can also use crushed up vanilla wafers for the sand with a little brown sugar added.

THE NILLA WAFERS WORK GREAT I USED THEM ON MY SEASHELL WEDDING CAKE AND THE BEACH FOR MY HAWAIIAN DOLL CAKE!! HAVE FUN!!

For the sand I used light brown sugar, graham crumbs and added a little gold sparkle dust to it.
