I hate to admit this but I have done cake taste tests with friends. I make a homemade cake & either a boxed cake or a publix cake, with my own buttercream on both. Everyones chooses the Publix cake. Does anyone know their recipe for yellow cake?
Thanks.

Yup. I used to work at Publix as a cake decorator. They use an industrial cake mix, basically the same as Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker, mixed per package directions (no doctoring). Of course this is done at a large factory bakery. All of the cakes come in prebaked and frozen.
