I am making a Spongebob cake for my daughter's birthday. Here is the problem...my fondant work still needs a lot of work.

She wants a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Here is what I'm thinking of doing. Covering the cake in the chocolate frosting and then putting it in the fridge for awhile to get nice and hard. Then covering Spongebob in yellow buttercream, making sure to work fast so the chocolate frosting doesn't get to warm and start mixing with the yellow. Do you think this will work?

Yes I think so, I have crumb coated in a white and gone over it later with another color.I do like you said, put in the fridge to harden up first. The yellow may have to be a little thick but it should work.

Thanks for the encouragement. It will be ok if the yellow is thick, my daughter's love frosting. icon_biggrin.gif
