I have a baby shower cake due Saturday, but I have to work in the morning, I will just have enough time to come home, grab the cake and deliver it. I was thinking of finishing it Friday night but will that be too long to keep it stacked? I've always stacked all my cakes the day they need to be finished. T.I.A.

Each of my cakes is finished the night before. I do believe that's how most other pros do it also. We always need time to fix anything that might possibly need fixing.

My cakes are stacked before they are decorated, which is usually 1-2 days before delivery, depending on the cake.
