How do you place fondant on to a cake and not have to trim parts off to make it fit properly. I know how to trim bottom pieces but when laying fondant on I am always having to make slits on the sides to get it on.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. Are you saying you have to cut from the side of your cake to make it fit? Your fondant piece doesn't cover the entire cake where you just have to trim off the extra from the bottom? If your saying you cutting from the actual side of your cake, thats not right. You should only have to cut off the extra from the very bottom and your fondant should be seemless from all around. Is this what your asking?
