Hi everyone!
I've seen some awesome ring cakes on CC. You guys are talented. I'm making on for a friend. Just curious as to the best way to make a lid for the box? Should I make it from cake or just fondant cover a board?
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks so much guys!!!

I am making that same cake this weekend. I haven't start with the lid but I am sure i will use Styrofoam cover in MMF. Anyway I was thinking about making a cardboard lid and then cover it in MMF and some nice decorated paper for inside the lid, maybe it will look more realistic. By now, I already did the ring, some pearls to decorate the ring and the diamond made out of white chocolate.

Be sure to post pics of your cake when you get it done. I'd love to see what it looks like. I'm sure it will inspire me! icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

It's not a ring box but a gift box http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1425029.html

I use a dummy cake foam and cover it in fondant. Much easier to sit half open.

Good luck with the cake !
