Good Luck Oklahoma! Hope this happens for you. All of us in Texas are watching! Get this passed and it helps our cause for Texas too!
I called them all and it took 15-20 minutes at the most. Please take the time to make the calls. I had to leave messages at several numbers but the secretaries I talked to were very supportive and surprized that this is not already legal. They said it should be.
This is crazy. I did a search to see if anything was being done in Oklahoma, and here we are, YEAH! I want to do my part. I am afraid this is all new to me however, Is there something I can read to see just what we are asking them to vote yes on?
Right now what we are asking for is to get the bill before the committee. The legal dept is still working on the wording for the bill. They want to make sure when it is time to present it that it has everything covered. Please call those numbers and ask for their support. Most of the secretaries I talked to thought it was already legal and thought it definately should be. It only took me about 10 minutes to call them all.
I was wondering...and I might be the only one who has this question, but maybe not...when we email these people and or call..how do we present or questions, statement or concerns. I mean, I want to do my part too, but I don't want to sound like I can't form a sentence when someone answers the phone . ha ha. I mean, I know what we are wanting to accomplish ultimately, but how should I word this when talking or typing. I just need a sense of direction so I don't come off totally random. Does that make sense? ( see what I mean?) Am I just to explain that I am wanting to see the bill get passed for the intent of becoming a self employed legal home baker/cake decorator and my thoughts on how that would benefit me and our state...or do I just say something like " I support HB2771!..and offer my name"?

I'm sorry to be so late getting back to this post but I got an email from my representative. The bill passed this committee by a vote of 14-0. So all the calls and emails were effective in getting this moving. He said we still have a long way to go but the bill is still alive. YEAH US!!!! I'll let you all know what we need to do next as soon as I find out. "You're looking great Oklahoma".
ha ha. I saw the post yesterday but didn't have time to email or call the reps. So, I logged on and saw it again today. I sent them all an email. Then I saw that there was a second page to the posts....saying it had been passed. Oops! Oh well, lets them know it's important to so many!
oops, I sent too...oh well..hopefully it just proves to them they made the right vote Please do let us know. Could you write my name down and private message me that way I don't miss the post, or you can email me at [email protected]
Yea!! I was wanting to turn my guest house into a cake studio and got the go ahead from the state and county but city zoning wouldn't budge. If this passes, I wonder if I will be able to get that approved? Do you know? I guess I need to go read the bill. If you're keeping a list of CC members to update on the status - will you please include me on that list? Thanks so much!!!
Does anyone know the link where I can see what the bill entails? not to seem uninformed, but this is the first I've heard and I'm getting quite excited.
AmySue - I tried to find the bill to read and was unsuccessful. I found a HB 2771 but it was from 2006. If you find anything please let us know. Thanks!!!
The bill passed was called a ghost bill. Legal is continuing to work on wording so when the bill is introduced, it will contain everything it needs to be successful. I emailed my rep. this morning to find out what is next. As soon as I hear from him, I'll update.
