Just a quick question- I'm doing a bowling b-day sheet cake with a bowling ball on it. I was going to make the ball out of rice crispie treat and cover with black fondant. Do I need to ice the ball in buttercream before I put the fondant on? Just wondering if it would stick without the buttercream. Also what would be the best way to attach the ball to the cake? Thanks.

I hope this isn't to late. Yes, you will want to ice the RKT ball with icing before covering with fondant. If I were doing it, I would put a dowel in the cake where I want the ball to attach and then after covering the ball with fondant, push it down on the dowel. But that's just me and how I would do it. Thanks umgrzfn
I haven't started it yet so it isn't too late. That is a great idea about using the dowel. I had'nt thought about that, I was going to use a skewer or something but it probably would not have made it secure enough. I will ice the RKT first then apply the fondant. Thanks again! icon_smile.gif
