I have a cake to make in March, there will be butterflies and flowers on this. I want to use wire so that some of the butterflies look like they are in the air and also on the flowers. I have seen the posts about putting the wire inside something so that it is not directly inserted into the cake.

My question is mostly asking for tips on attaching the butterflies & flowers to the wire and what size wire works best so that it doesnt get weighed down by the fondant pieces. Any help/advice at all will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance.

i prefer non-lead jewelry wire. It comes in different gauges. the size gauge you need depends on how heavy or big your flowers/butterflies are. You might want to look at getting a muli-pack of wire to get started and for practicing. I use RI to attach.
