I bought a tub of BC which I will not use up in the 2 weeks it says to use by. Can I freeze it? Thanks
Yes, you can freeze bc!
Yup! Works great!
i always freeze mine, then when i make my hubby a cake i use "leftover" frosting and it always looks like a rainbow lol
Yes, you can freeze it. I've frozen ABC and IMBC successfully.
When I'm ready to use IMBC again I take it out of the freezer, put it in the fridge overnight, then on the counter until it's at room temp (at the moment, 68 to 70F). I don't know what I'm going to do in the summer when our kitchen will be a lot warmer, even with air conditioning.
Before I use it I mix it up in the KA mixer at a low speed to get the proper texture again.
I did that this morning with a batch of previously frozen IMBC. I put it in the KA when it was still a bit cold. When I started mixing it, it quickly turned into a lumpy yellow mess....I left it for an hour or so, and the liquid started separating out from it. I was hoping I could save it. I then started up the mixer again, and lo and behold! The mess turned into buttercream again! I love IMBC.
