I'd like to know if anybody knows what I did wrong. Baked 2 12x18x3 cakes. Used 7 flower nails. I HATED the way the cake came out. Extremely heavy, very very dense. You could say overly moist. Took 2 hours each to back in 325 degree oven. Is this how cake usually turns out with the flower nail method? This is the first time I tried this. Cake had a terrible texture around the flower nails. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you might need to check your oven temperature.

I think that is a lot of flower nails. I would only use 2 in each pan. What kind of cake is it that you're making? Maybe it's the cake itself? I agree with Texas Rose too - check your oven!
