When using dark colored fondant - I find that it looks faded and dull once it sits for a little while icon_confused.gif - any tips on how to make it dark and shiny looking?

I mean - I made a cow out of rice Krispie treat mix and covered it with fondant - I used black for the "spots" on the cow - they were very dull after I put it on it. Any ideas?????

If this is for display and will never be eaten use shoe polish.
If it is for short term and will be eaten paint with a clear alcohol ie. vodka

It's short term - won't the alcohol evaporate?

Yes but is stays shiny for a few days or paint the spots just before it goes on display.
Shortening rubbed on the spots just before it goes on display also make it shiny.
