I made my usual american buttercream today, but I forgot to add the meringue powder. Will adding it in now that the icing is finished work?

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm happy it's okay to leave it out. I started using it when Wilton gave me their original bc recipe and never stopped. What is it supposed to do?

For me it helps in the heat and the humidity.

Wilton tells you it helps with stability and colors bleeding.

Wilton changed their recipe and added the meringue powder several years ago. The original Wilton recipe didn't have it in there.
