I'd like to make a cake of a standing figure. I kinda have an idea about the internal structure. I plan to use pvc pipe but I don't know how to connect the pipe to the cake board. Any ideas?

Hey,

I to made a zombie cake that stood up for Halloween. I used pvc pipes for the arms but for the torso vertical support i used a sprinkler pipe (black pvc pipe i got from home depot). it is threaded on both ends and i also bought this metal ring that had screw holes in it that screwed into wooden base and had a threaded end to receive the threaded pipe. I know i am doing a poor job describing this but just go to the depot and ask the person for a sprinkler riser pipe and then tell him you need to fasten it to a board. he should know where to find the metal bracket. good luck

I just went to a class for a 3d stand up monster cake an she used a flange from home depot. It is screwed to the board. Check out the blog for custom cakes in Savannah, They posted a pic of the structure.
