Normally I charge $4.50 per serving for custom cakes.

So, I get a call from a (kind of a friend) who owns her own catering service & she is overwhelmed & short-handed, and asks me if I can make a cake for 75 people, and to just let her know what I want for it.

Well I have been in that situation before & know how she must feel, so I agree to do it (it's for tomorrow).

The thing is, all I have to do is bake the cakes, she's got everything else covered. So what to charge for a plain, baked cake for 75 people? No icing, no torting, no decorating...$75? $50?

It is a vanilla cake & she will use it for strawberry shortcake. I went to the grocery store tonight to see how much those little pre-packaged shortcakes are, but there weren't any around.

Thanks for any help!

Just my two cents but I would figure out the cost of the ingredients, dont forget to include travel time and then add in your time to bake the cakes.

Hope that helps.
