I looked through the tutorials and don't see this anywhere. I'm doing a cake in a couple of weeks where I need to make a person. I've never done it before so I'm not sure if I should use fondant or gum paste. And then what. Can somebody give me idiot proof instructions on how to make good people? I've got 3 weeks to practice.

Check out tutorials by aine2. She's awesome! I use a fondant/gumpaste mixture.

Aine2 has AWESOME tutorials. And there are all sorts of other gumpaste figure tutorials on you tube.

Does anyone know if Wilton Gum-Tex is the same as tylose? I have problems when making models with the fondant/gumpaste cracking? What could be causing this? U think it's because I used some leftovers that I'd had for a while?

I agree, Aine2 is a fantastic teacher...however, I like working with candy clay much better when molding people or animals! Hope this helps!
