I'm about to take Wilton Course 3, and the instructions in the book say to mix gumtex with the fondant to make the rose. The problem is the measurements. It says 1 tsp gumtex to 12 oz of fondant. I use Satin Ice, and I just have some leftover, so I have *no* idea how much fondant I have. I'm wondering if I can just make a 50/50 gumpaste fondant mix and that will work out the same, or if gumtex does something completely different?

I'm a WMI and I never measure it out. Actually I don't have my students add the gum tex to that amount of fondant. We only do a small golfball size, because I feel it dries out and makes it harder for them to do the bow the following week.

You can mix gum-tex into the Satin Ice.
