I'd like your opinion on my first gumpaste figure. (Link below)

Also, how do I get it to not be shiny? I brushed it with water to get the stripes to adhere and it stayed shiny. Thanks!

First of all, let me say, she is very cute and I love her face!
When you are attaching different pieces, try using gum glue (water mixed with gumpaste to make a thick liquid) and a VERY FINE brush. Don't brush the main piece, but instead brush the piece you are applying. Keep in mind, a very small amount of gum glue is glue, anything more is a mess! I don't know of a way to eliminate the shiny finish left from the water. The alternative might be to brush the entire piece with Confectioners Glaze as it is suppose to add shine. It looks like the biggest issue is on the dress, so if you shiny it up all over it may blend better.

Very good for a first try Try dusting some light pink on her cheeks and paint on some thin eyebrows if you like...she will look more complete. HTH If its just water that you used to stick the stripes, it should dry up and the shine should disappear.
