I just made my son's icing for his birthday and put Wilton's almond extract in it. He is allergic to nuts....does the extract count as nuts?

It would depend if he is allergic to peanuts (comes from the ground), tree nuts, or both. Almonds are tree nuts. Not all people allergic to peanuts are allergic to tree nuts. If you are unsure, then don't risk it and use something else.
