Due to time constraints I need to premake fondant/gumpaste animals for a cake. How do I store them so they do not crack?

In a dust free and dark environment. Sunlight and lamp light may fade the colours. Most people store them in a plastic container or such.
I put mine on a plastic dray and then in a cupboard

Don't put them in an airtight container otherwise they will not dry out. I normally pop them on clingfilm on a plastic tray and then either drape clingfilm over them to keep the dust off but it is not seled or pop a glass over them, depending on the size. That always works fine for me.
