Hello,

This is my first post.....

I'm making a cocktail theme cake for my friends daughter. Has anyone tried to make glasses out of sugar/petal paste??? I've seen some fab cakes but the seem to use a real glass.

thanks

You can use plastic glasses. They weigh less and they are see-through, unlike gum paste.

If you want to use gum paste I suggest you use the inside of the glass as a template. This will only work if the glass is larger at the rim than at the bottom. Does that make sense? You can form gum paste inside a martini glass and let it dry, then make the stem and base, and attach them all together. The first part won't work using a brandy glass since you wouldn't be able to get the dried gum paste out of the top.

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.

Hi Thanks for that, gives me a starting point and something to fall back on if it doesn't go to plan. Best start practising then.
