I tried two different Amaretto cake recipes this evening and wasn't very happy with the results. Both were doctored, one with vanilla pudding, the other with pudding and sour cream. They came out a little too spongy and airy. I love the texture of Darn Good Chocolate Cake and want something like this that I can carve. Friend wants her cake in the shape of a training buoy... :-/
She also asked for Amaretto flavor if possible. Would anyone be able to share one?

Thank you so much.

I made this amaretto cake (but without the frosting) for one layer of my daughter's wedding cake. It is very dense and yummy!

I just made one last weekend! Used the tried and true WASC cake recipe from cakecentral. I used amaretto in place of the water and almond extract for most of the 1 TBSP of flavoring. Another option would be to brush some amaretto over the cake prior to filling. Of course this option would contain some alcohol ( I wouldn't think you would use too much) and that might be a problem for some.
