I am making a Barbie cake for my daughters birthday and would like for the pink frosting for the dress to have a sparkle to it. Does anyone have any good ways to do this besides sprinkling the dust on? Can I mix something into the frosting when I make it? Any help would be appreciated.

You can mix the dust into the frosting. Pearl dust or luster dust.

Other than that... add colored sugar crystals I guess.

No you can NOT mix dust into the frosting and expect sparkle. It dissolves and acts as a tint. You CAN apply edible glitter or sparkling sugar after it's frosted.
