My daughter will be 4 on Valentine's Day. She is obsessed with hippos, therefore, looks like I'll be making a hippo cake. I want it cartoon and fun looking. I love this one. I have tried to email the person who made this one, but I'm not getting a reply. Any ideas what pans I could use to duplicate this? Know of any other designs that would give me this sort of look?

For the bottom of the hippo, you could probably use the soccer ball pan that Wilton has on top of a maybe 10 in round. You would need to carve the bottom ronud to give you that look. Or you could probably just stack maybe 3 rounds and sculpt it.

For the head, you could use the small ball pan from Wilton with RKT for the mouth.

Now I have never made one like this, but just going through my pans these are the ones that look like they can pull it off.

Cecilia

i have a tendency to just dive in and see what happens. id have rkt on standy, and extra fondant/ bc incase i use that to bulk it up.
so big ball pan/ bowl to make the body, cut the bottom off so it sits flat.
head, slightly smaller ball pan/ bowl. with a little bit of carving round the eyes. (or, just do the whole head in rkt)
you would definately want to dowel and have a board between head and body, depending on how deep the cakes are, you might want to do some extra supports (like a board in the middle of the body, between head and body, halfway through head - and seeing this thing was a foot tall, you will definately need to do that! at least every 6 inches of cake.)
it does look cool, good luck icon_smile.gif
