I am making a small reception cake for a friend and need some advice on the filling. The bottom tier in red velvet with cream cheese filling. The top tier is a white cake. I dont know what to fill the top cake with. I was thinking a rasberry or strawberry. I thought it would look cool when they cut it and the inside of the cakes are reversed colors icon_smile.gif The thing is I have never used a fruit filling in a cake. I saw some in a cake store I go to. Do you use them by themselves or do u need to mix with buttercream? Thanks for your help!

You can use the sleeve filling right out of the package or mixed in with some butter cream. It just depends what look/taste you're going for.

Good luck!

Are you talking about the fillings that come in plastic tubes? If you are then I believe those fillings are ready to use. You can mix them with buttercream if you like though. It's totally up to you (or your friend)

Maybe you should just ask the person at the cake shop. They should know for sure.
