Met with a bride who is doing her colors in lemon/navy blue. Sounds really pretty. Her centerpieces will be lemons as well as other decorations. Does anyone have any photos of lemons or lime on a cake? I was thinking of putting actual lemons on the corners or even raise each tier up a bit and stick them in the space.
I don't know about whole lemons... but I can picture incorporating lemon slices. As in a nice whole circle cut of lemon. Make a fresh cut, pat dry with a paper towel, then sprinkle some white or even a light coating of blue granular sugar on it. Randomly place them on the cake like flowers with like some blueberries to give it a navy color and feel.
Painting with fruit sound neat. Anyway, that's my first idea.
Oh and I like the idea also of seperating the tiers and putting lemons in between.
Found this, it sounds like the sliced the Oranges then candied them....

Thanks for posting the links guys! djs-I saw that one which is very cool. I have found a couple with pears on the cake which is stunning but very few using the whole lemon.

Well shoot Jan! I'm sorry.. I seem to always put topics in the wrong category.
